The Slow Music Movement is as much about independent artists and underground music as it is about tempo. OK, so the focus is more on kicking back, deep listening and soundtracking lazy, hazy and more contemplative moments on the whole, for which slower music just makes more sense. Over the years though we've spent more time than most on dancefloors and being major fans of movement to music we're still up for shaking it, so don't be surprised if singles and EPs like this pop up every now and then.

Getting Mazzo on board has taken a while, having stood in line behind great indie labels like Gated, Doom Chakra and Cudighi but it's great to finally welcome him to the label. If you don't know, Mazzo is a master of mixing old school vibes with a good natured, almost New Age feel. In this single he gives us his trademark sound, and then rather unusually explores an altogether different but equally powerful emotional avenue.

"Love Letter" is music without a bad bone in its body. It sounds like an 80s Italo house summer spin & is sure to find a home with the Balearic boys and girls. It's honed to lift spirits, bring out the best in people and put smiles on faces. It's evokes those early rave years, wide eyed ecstasy awakenings, sweaty hugs and crazed grins. It has a sense of wonder and oozes brighter days, peace and love.If you ever needed an end of night tune to drop just as the sun was rising over the horizon to bathe a field of tired emotional ravers in its warm rays and send them home happy, then "Love Letter" might well be it.

"Ride Into The Abyss" is not as apocalyptic as its title suggests but mines a deep electro vibe & more sombre sound palette, but when dropped at the right time in the right place will tug as many heart strings & drive as many dancers, just perhaps with their heads down whilst searching within, rather than waving their hands in the air.
With a comforting arm it encourages introspection and almost evokes a sense of loss. Not of loved ones but of time and times. It speaks of fading childhood memories, missed opportunities amongst those grasped and of smiling faces and happy places no longer seen due to time and circumstance. It has a beautiful melancholy to it. If I was Portuguese I might even say it evokes a sense of saudade.

Hold tight it's going to be emotional.
