about

ABOUT ROOTS:
Roots is a mini album recorded by Francis M. Gri in 2019, after a journey in Alicante.

Inspired by the art from this peaceful and beautiful place he recorded these four tracks, moving to different territories and thinking about unusual elements for him like heat, dryness,  ground and human roots.

With minimal equipment - only an acoustic guitar, sansula and singing bowls (then all processed on software) this EP is a reflection of how humanity is draining the energies of the Earth…. Without remorse we are drowning in our ego, forgetting that our Home is alive and breathes every day with us.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:
Being a fan of Francis M. Gri I approached him in 2019 about a release for The Slow Music Movement label, not having made the connection that he actually ran his own label, the excellent Krysalisound (krysalisound.bandcamp.com).

Thankfully he noticed TSMM's commitment to donating a % of our income to Client Earth (www.clientearth.org), one of the world's leading firms of environmental lawyers who are taking on the destruction of the earth (our home!) by short sighted governments, irresponsible investment funds and money hungry big business, and offered to produce a release if all the proceeds were donated to Client Earth. We had a deal, and here, several months later is this wonderful electro acoustic meditation on the existential climate issues facing us all in the Anthropocene.

This release is currently only available from The Slow Music Movement & Krysalisound Bandcamp pages, so please dig as deep as you can to help protect our home outside our homes, which we are all utterly dependent on. As the popular slogan goes, "There is no planet B".

ARTWORK:
Harriet Richardson is a multidisciplinary visual artist based in Berlin whose work tends to revolve around nature abstracted, the psyche & the absurd. Her work for The Slow Music Movement is designed to be both visually attractive & simultaneously thought provoking, expressing our shared frustrations at today’s existential issues - the environment, neoliberal driven consumerism, climate change, over population, "that feeling of powerlessness & at the same complicity through our problematic lifestyles & the uneven battle grounds in the fight for social & environmental justice". It also looks pretty damn good :)

ABOUT THE SLOW MUSIC MOVEMENT:
The Slow Music Movement is an evolving organism with an ambitious evolutionary plan. It is a daily music recommendation site, radio show, record label and publisher.
